My name is Alistair Deakin, I am the President and CEO for KaleidaCare Management Solutions. KaleidaCare is an Austin based software company, and we serve private child and family services agencies around the United States.
When we were looking for a hosting, colocation facility, we wanted a company that had really thought through all the aspects of failure, and performance, and reliability. And OnRamp had checked all the boxes.
A couple years back we started looking at what the cost for us to maintain that hardware infrastructure was… at some point it made more sense for us to just lease it and have OnRamp be the primary person responsible for the hardware, and we also lease the software licenses as well. And that just turns out to be a much easier way to do things, by utilizing OnRamp as a force multiplier for our IT department because, frankly, we are very small.
There’s a lot going on with our product and, as you can imagine, the nature of the information is very, very sensitive indeed.
HIPAA is a very big concern for us because obviously we are dealing with medical treatment programs for foster kids and other personnel that our customers are treating. That information is stored on the servers we host here.
The product needs to be available 24/7, it needs to be available at a very high level of performance as well as reliability. And of course we need to maintain an exceedingly high level of security.
For us it is a competitive advantage. When we are selling against our competitors, what OnRamp does in terms of data security and performance goes well beyond anything our competitors are doing, who are self-hosted for sure. But when it came down to it, what we really liked about it was we really felt it was a locally based organization where the management team were really going to be committed to Austin-based companies and that we were going to be an important client. It would allow us to give our customers perfect confidence that we could be there as their needs increased and expanded, or as new threats developed. We felt like it was the right approach both financially and for risk management.
Once we started our relationship with OnRamp, we’ve never had any reason to look at exploring another relationship because we’ve been so happy with the services.
