Implementation Specialist | Austin, TX

 

Overview:

The primary function of the Implementation Specialist is the installation and configuration of new customer environments using various IT technologies. An Implementation Specialist is also expected to function as the primary technical point of contact for customer implementations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for configuration and implementation of VMware vSphere 5.x and higher environments
  • Install and configure Windows/ Linux/ CentOS systems
  • Create and configure hosts, backups, antivirus, monitoring and other management agents
  • Configure and attach SAN storage to customer environments
  • Apply patches, updates to servers. Perform hardware upgrades to servers
  • Create documentation of customer environments including but not limited to network maps, system configurations, and run-books
  • Follows and assist with the creation of build standards and templates setup by the engineering department
  • Implement regularly planned infrastructure refreshes
  • Track and document physical and logical data center resources (power, location, IP, VLAN etc.) of customer environments using DCIM or other documentation tools
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Data Center Operations

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience with systems administration, in a multi-site redundancy environment
  • Fundamental understanding of computer networks and be able to identify, troubleshoot, and document network connectivity and performance issues
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server (Server 2008 and above), Red Hat Linux, and VMware ESX
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, group policy, and domain administration
  • In-depth virtualization experience (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to successfully communicate and explain technical concepts to non-technical people
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Network administration experience (firewalls, security, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, etc.).
  • Cisco Networking and troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Microsoft Certified
  • Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or similar certification is a plus.
  • Experience with EMC products
  • Experience in structured cabling
  • PowerShell scripting knowledge is a plus.
  • Associates or higher Degree with emphasis in information systems or related field.

Tier I Technician | Austin, TX or Raleigh, NC

Must be able to work night shifts

 

Overview:

OnRamp’s Tier I Datacenter Technician is responsible for assisting customers that require technical assistance with Microsoft or Linux servers, monitoring the operation of the data center, and controlling physical access to the data center. This position reports to the Manager of Technical Services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directly responsible for answering customer inquiries in person, on the phone and electronically
  • Monitor data center and network and report problems to customers and network engineering staff in a timely manner
  • Manage physical security of the data center authentication/authorization of guests and visitors
  • Other duties as assigned by the Network Engineers or management team
  • For customer satisfaction, the candidate will be expected to provide timely and accurate communication of issue status and resolution to the customer
  • Accurately and professionally document all communication with the customer
  • Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of technical support experience with:
    • TCP/IP Internetworking
    • Telecommunications troubleshooting
    • Technical support for Microsoft Servers and Clients
    • Technical support for Microsoft applications including Exchange, SQL Server, etc.
    • Technical support for Linux operating systems for servers
    • HP and Cisco hardware configuration and maintenance
  • Communication skills (face-to-face, phone, and email) with the ability to provide support to customers and work with Onramp engineers and staff
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and persistence to work until the issue is resolve
