Data Center Operations Technician | Raleigh, NC

 

Overview:

The primary function of the Data Center Operations Technician is to build new customer environments and serve as a technical resource on new implementations. A Data Center Operations Technician functions as the primary technical point of contact for server implementations within the organization.
This position reports to the Director of Data Center Operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build, image and install rack mountable servers, and IT hardware
  • Build, configure, and verify Windows Server/RHEL/CentOS systems
  • Configure backups, antivirus, SMS, NTP, SNMP and other management agents
  • Perform Firewall builds/configurations/port changes, configuration/expansion of SAN storage, configuration of vCenter, and other technical work
  • Create, assign and accurately track Physical and logical data center resources (IP address, VLAN, Routes, cabinet, switch, power, etc.) to customer solutions
  • Perform troubleshooting in live server environments
  • Maintain documentation during and after server builds
  • Create tickets within the ticketing system to address problems, incidents and changes of hardware
  • Maintain accurate customer implementation logs within ticketing and internal systems
  • Install, test, and label cabling using standard data center protocols and use cable management systems
  • Minor facilities related tasks including but not limited to visual inspections of electrical and HVAC equipment
  • Ability to read and follow operating instructions to operate electrical breakers
  • Subcontractor relationships and vendor escorts
  • Minor facilities and data center maintenance (e.g. changing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, painting, labeling, etc.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree, trade school certification, or other verifiable experience in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 1-3 years of experience working in a data center, or equivalent critical environment
  • Experience in structured cabling
  • Extensive knowledge of computer hardware components
  • After initial training, able to work with little supervision
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to climb a 6’ ladder
  • Eager to take on critical facilities tasks
  • Possess a High School diploma or GED equivalency
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multitask
  • Ability to prioritize based on team needs

Preferred Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience with systems administration, server installation and design, and configuration architecture
  • Certifications: MCSE, RCHE and CentOS
  • Knowledgeable on Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Red Hat Linux, and VMware ESX
  • Experience with HP, Dell, and Cisco server hardware
  • Experience with networking and load balancing
  • Experience with operating UPS, generators, and electrical systems if needed
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task between projects with minimal supervision

Tier II Technician | Austin, TX

 

Overview:

The primary function of the Tier II Technician is to provide technical support of OnRamp’s managed environments including supporting networks, applications, and databases. With proven experience in Windows and Linux operating systems, Network, server class equipment, and virtualized environments individuals of this role are expected to work with minimal supervision while providing customer support. Tier II Support Technicians are expected to research issues and attempt to resolve these issues and document trouble tickets prior to escalating to Tier III support. Tier II Support Technicians will have additional shift leadership responsibilities and is the primary technical resource for Tier I Support Technicians. This position reports to the Tier II Supervisor.

***Position is a night shift 9p-9a; 3-4 days per week***

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for OnRamp customers, which may include providing assistance with network configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of specialized system procedures
  • Provide timely and accurate communication of issue status and resolution to the customer and accurately and professionally document all communication with the customer
  • Monitor the datacenter and network and report problems to customers and engineering staff
  • Perform Firewall builds/configurations/port changes, configuration/expansion of SAN storage, configuration of vCenter, managing maintenance windows (including writing of maintenance plans for hardware maintenance to be performed by Tier I), installation/configuration of OnRamp software/agents, applying customer patches, configuration/ troubleshooting of backup jobs, and other technical work
  • Assist with training of Tier I Technicians
  • Provide technical support for Tier I escalations
  • Escalate issues to Tier III Technicians within SLA timeframe, and escalating facilities issues to the Facilities Manager
  • Engage Tier I Technicians for additional support and closing tickets residing in both the Tier I and Tier II Technician queues within the ticketing system
  • Provide Quality Assurance on Tier1 work (firewall, OS installs, cable runs, etc.)

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of support technician experience, including technical support experience in the following areas:
    • TCP/IP Internetworking
    • Telecommunications troubleshooting
    • Technical support for Microsoft Servers and Clients
    • Technical support for Microsoft applications including Exchange, SQL Server, etc.
    • Technical support for Linux operating systems for servers
    • HP, Cisco, and Dell hardware configuration and maintenance
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in hardware, software, networks, applications, and databases
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Manage difficult customer situations
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and persistence to work until the issue is resolved
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including rotations and nights

Tier I Technician | Austin, TX or Raleigh, NC

Overview:

OnRamp’s Tier I Datacenter Technician is responsible for assisting customers that require technical assistance with Microsoft or Linux servers, monitoring the operation of the data center, and controlling physical access to the data center. This position reports to the Manager of Technical Services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directly responsible for answering customer inquiries in person, on the phone and electronically
  • Monitor data center and network and report problems to customers and network engineering staff in a timely manner
  • Manage physical security of the data center authentication/authorization of guests and visitors
  • Other duties as assigned by the Network Engineers or management team
  • For customer satisfaction, the candidate will be expected to provide timely and accurate communication of issue status and resolution to the customer
  • Accurately and professionally document all communication with the customer
  • Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of technical support experience with:
    • TCP/IP Internetworking

Information Security Analyst | Austin, TX

Overview:

The Information Security Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert for a variety of security monitoring and control systems. This position will take the lead on daily operational security activities at OnRamp and will support the implementation of new security controls as well as improve existing security controls. In this highly visible position, the Information Security Analyst will consult with individuals throughout the organization on strategies to improve security controls and will assist with key security compliance initiatives.

The bottom line? This position will collaborate with the Head of Information Security to conquer information security challenges that improve OnRamp’s operational security.

This position reports to the Head of Information Security.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform and support risk assessments on OnRamp’s information systems
  • Monitor events and alerts generated by information security controls and monitoring systems via SIEM software, access and privileges management, and asset management tools
  • Perform vulnerability scans on internal and external information systems
  • Identify and prioritize patches applicable to different systems, deploy patches, and monitor progress of patches deployment
  • Support the different operation teams in selection of information security controls and assist with information system controls assessment process prior to release into production
  • Generate and prepare reports associated with the performance of information security controls
  • Maintain documentation of assets destruction
  • Participate in the investigation of security-related events
  • Foster a culture of compliance by assisting in security awareness trainings
  • Support and facilitate internal audits associated with information security policies compliance and controls effectiveness
  • Handle customers security related requests
  • Maintain knowledge of security best practices, including regulatory compliance and licensure requirements, such as HIPAA, PCI, and SSAE16

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of progressive experience in information systems security, preferably in a data center environment
  • Experience with management of SIEM systems – OSSIM, Splunk, Logrhythm
  • Experience with access and identity management systems – AD, Tacacs, Radius
  • Experience with patch management systems – WSUS, Spacewalk
  • Experience with Linux and Windows OS administration
  • Experience with management of network devices – routers, switches and firewalls
  • Strong desire to assist OnRamp in conquering internal and external audits
  • Experience working with sensitive and confidential issues
  • Ability to prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
