Junior Engineer | Austin, TX or Raleigh, NC

 

Overview:

The Junior Engineer is responsible for acting as a high level escalation point for the support team and assisting in engineering projects as assigned. This position will be an integral member of the engineering team, working on customer support escalations, implementation support, proof of concepts, and new product testing. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to private cloud customers, working on a daily basis with virtualization tools and SAN environments
  • Provide initial configurations and technical support for switches and routers, firewalls, load balancers, layer 3 routing, and layer 2 switching
  • Generate support documentation related to existing and new products and services, and provide hands on training to Technicians
  • Provide oversight and ownership of support and monitoring tools used by Onramp Operations, implementing improvements to these tools as required
  • Provide systems and network administration for Onramp customers, which may include providing assistance with network implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, and usage monitoring
  • Provide timely and accurate communication of issue status and resolution to the customer and accurately and professionally document all communication with the customer
  • Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of systems administration experience, including at least 1 year of hands-on experience with virtualized environments
  • Minimum of 2 years of network administration experience, including knowledge of TCP/IP networking and experience deploying and managing Cisco firewalls
  • Experience with System Administration for Microsoft Servers and Clients as well as for Microsoft applications including Exchange, SQL Server, etc.
  • Experience with System Administration for Linux operating systems for servers
  • Experience with Virtualization and one or more hypervisors, preferably VMWare
  • Experience with SAN environments, including multipathing for iSCSI
  • Clear understanding of HP, Dell and Cisco hardware configuration and maintenance
  • Professional demeanor and excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Passion for customer care with exceptional follow up and issue ownership skills
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and persistence to work until the issue is resolved
  • Ability to be part of an on-call rotation schedule with other network engineers

Tier II Technician | Austin, TX

 

Overview:

The primary function of the Tier II Technician is to provide technical support of OnRamp’s managed environments including supporting networks, applications, and databases. With proven experience in Windows and Linux operating systems, Network, server class equipment, and virtualized environments individuals of this role are expected to work with minimal supervision while providing customer support. Tier II Support Technicians are expected to research issues and attempt to resolve these issues and document trouble tickets prior to escalating to Tier III support. Tier II Support Technicians will have additional shift leadership responsibilities and is the primary technical resource for Tier I Support Technicians. This position reports to the Tier II Supervisor.

***Position is a night shift 9p-9a; 3-4 days per week***

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for OnRamp customers, which may include providing assistance with network configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of specialized system procedures
  • Provide timely and accurate communication of issue status and resolution to the customer and accurately and professionally document all communication with the customer
  • Monitor the datacenter and network and report problems to customers and engineering staff
  • Perform Firewall builds/configurations/port changes, configuration/expansion of SAN storage, configuration of vCenter, managing maintenance windows (including writing of maintenance plans for hardware maintenance to be performed by Tier I), installation/configuration of OnRamp software/agents, applying customer patches, configuration/ troubleshooting of backup jobs, and other technical work
  • Assist with training of Tier I Technicians
  • Provide technical support for Tier I escalations
  • Escalate issues to Tier III Technicians within SLA timeframe, and escalating facilities issues to the Facilities Manager
  • Engage Tier I Technicians for additional support and closing tickets residing in both the Tier I and Tier II Technician queues within the ticketing system
  • Provide Quality Assurance on Tier1 work (firewall, OS installs, cable runs, etc.)

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of support technician experience, including technical support experience in the following areas:
    • TCP/IP Internetworking
    • Telecommunications troubleshooting
    • Technical support for Microsoft Servers and Clients
    • Technical support for Microsoft applications including Exchange, SQL Server, etc.
    • Technical support for Linux operating systems for servers
    • HP, Cisco, and Dell hardware configuration and maintenance
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in hardware, software, networks, applications, and databases
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Manage difficult customer situations
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and persistence to work until the issue is resolved
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including rotations and nights

Tier I Technician | Austin, TX or Raleigh, NC

Overview:

OnRamp’s Tier I Datacenter Technician is responsible for assisting customers that require technical assistance with Microsoft or Linux servers, monitoring the operation of the data center, and controlling physical access to the data center. This position reports to the Manager of Technical Services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directly responsible for answering customer inquiries in person, on the phone and electronically
  • Monitor data center and network and report problems to customers and network engineering staff in a timely manner
  • Manage physical security of the data center authentication/authorization of guests and visitors
  • Other duties as assigned by the Network Engineers or management team
  • For customer satisfaction, the candidate will be expected to provide timely and accurate communication of issue status and resolution to the customer
  • Accurately and professionally document all communication with the customer
  • Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of technical support experience with:
    • TCP/IP Internetworking
    • Telecommunications troubleshooting
    • Technical support for Microsoft Servers and Clients
    • Technical support for Microsoft applications including Exchange, SQL Server, etc.
    • Technical support for Linux operating systems for servers
    • HP and Cisco hardware configuration and maintenance
  • Communication skills (face-to-face, phone, and email) with the ability to provide support to customers and work with Onramp engineers and staff
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and persistence to work until the issue is resolve
