Where do people go to practice their dance moves?
QuickSilver
Dancers has an open practice every Sunday from 5-6pm, where we play
music on request.
For our C&W dancers, we have "happy
hours" at clubs around town, including Dallas, Ropers and Midnight
Cowboy. Plus, several times a year we have a field trip to Cowboy's
night club in San Antonio (they even have a live rodeo at 11pm!).
East Coast Swing, Jitterbug, and Lindy-Hop dancers practice on Thursdays
at the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs. West Coast Swingers practice at
Club Maxx in the Red Lion Hotel, or at Tangerines in the Renaissance
Hotel.
Ballroom dancers practice with the Austin Ballroom Dancers
at the Hancock Recreation Center, while Seniors (over 50) can ballroom
dance at the Senior Activity Center on Shoal Creek and 29th Street.
Look in Thursday's XLent section of the Austin paper or check with the
Dancers Guide to ascertain which club on which
night for which type of dancing you seek.
IN GENERAL, dancers going
to any of the above listed venues will go early in the evening (6:00
or 6:30) and leave around 9 or 10pm when the floors start filling up
with people who have not had any dance training or who are there for
reasons other than practicing their dance steps.
