Bastrop in General

Bastrop is a city with a population of about 4,800 people. It is located next to the Colorado River and Texas Highway 71. There are many tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping places, and other features that make Bastrop the prominent city that it is. As the County Seat of Bastrop County, it holds many governmental positions. The city is home to the Oldest Weekly Newspaper in the state of Texas, the Bastrop Advertiser. Bastrop is a good all-around town, punctuated by its friendly people and spring wildflowers.
