NINTH ANNUAL SOUTHERN BULK CARRIERS DAY
The Texas Tank Truck Carriers Association held its Ninth Annual Southern Bulk Carriers Day on October 1, 1998, at the AstroArena in Houston, Texas. The show was larger than any previous year with over 125 tank trucks on display, and over 80 vendors and suppliers showing their wares. Over 2,500 people attended, including Captain Wesley Johnson, Sgt. William Miller of the Louisiana State Police, Lt. Billy Ladd of the Texas DPS, Lufkin Chief of Police Sherman Collins, Corporal Jim Garrett of the Texas DPS, Charles Wilson of Modern Bulk Transporter, Cliff Harvison, President of National Tank Truck Carriers; John Conley, Vice President of National Tank Truck Carriers; and the Honorable Charles Matthews, Commissioner of the Railroad Commission of Texas.

Special thanks to Initial DSI Transports, Inc. and Cummins Southern Plains, Inc. for sponsoring the barbecue lunch. Initial DSI also provided workers who prepared and served the barbecue. Trailers of Texas, Inc. provided two flatbed trailers for the stage. Garner Environmental Services provided the dining area tents.
Houston City Councilman Felix Fraga attended the show and presented the Mayor's Proclamation wherein City of Houston Mayor Lee P. Brown proclaimed October 1, 1998 in Houston, Texas as Southern Bulk Carriers Day.

The Tenth Annual Southern Bulk Carriers Day is scheduled for October 7, 1999, at the same location, the AstroArena in Houston, Texas. We look forward to seeing everyone there for the special Tenth Anniversary celebration of the biggest and finest tank truck trade show in the United States.
