VideoUniversity.com

Check out the "free library" and "video links" links at the left side of the page

Elite Video

Scroll down to the "forums" link at the lower left side of the page. Also check out the "free video instruction" link at the right of the page. They also sell lots of interesting gear and supplies. Their education videos are excellent.

Sign Video

No free reference material here, but some useful video gear. This is the maker of the XLR (balanced) microphone adapter that we use--it works really well, allowing you to use professional microphones on your Hi-8 or Mini-DV camera. If any of you (Westover Multimedia Ministry co-workers) are interested in having your own, or in seeing the "Shooting the No Budget Digital Video Documentary" training video, please let me know. http://www.lightbulbsdirect.com/

Light Bulbs Direct

Bulbs for all our equipment.

tvcameramen.com

See "Resources" at the left side of the page. Beware of weird stuff in "The Lounge".

b-roll.net

See "Tips and Tricks" at the left side of the page.

Professional Tape and Communication Supply

A good source of blank tapes and CDs, that happens to be local: 4120 Commercial Center Drive, Suite 500. Westover tax exemption form on file if you're buying supplies for the Multimedia Ministry.

Cassette House

Another long-time supplier of blank tapes and CDs for the Multimedia Ministry.

Computer Videomaker Magazine

Camcorder & Computer Video

Ron Dexter

Massive site with all kinds of advice. Some of it seems like random thoughts loosely organized around a topic, but there's a lot here for video makers at all levels.

The Complete Eejit's Guide to Filmmaking

Geared toward making films on video. Lots of good information, informal style with a small amount of objectionable language.

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation

Geared toward videographers making videos of artists at work, but with tips that apply in many other situations

University of Alaska Southeast

Online media courses. Most of what you want is in the ED634 class under "Ed Tech Endorsement". Look at this before they make it password-protected.

Videoccasions

Good source of general information on your camera, planning, lighting, audio, shooting, editing, and packaging.

Another one-page list of things to think about before and during video production. Click on "Curriculum" to find other stuff.

University of Northern Iowa

List of field shooting guidelines.

Media College

Lots of good information for beginners to early intermediate.
