About
Me
Hello. My name
is In Churl Yo.
Best described
as a creative type who's in touch with his practical side, I graduated
from the University
of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em Horns!) with a Bachelor's
in marketing and concentration in magazine journalism. Since then,
I've pretty much been working within my chosen industry, first for
Texas Monthly
magazine and now at Grand
Adventures Tour & Travel Publishing Corporation.
I grew up in
small town Texas but love the excitement of new places and the hum
of big cities. So I travel as much as possible. I read constantly,
and my favorite writers include Kerouac,
Bukowski and Ginsberg (though I have been known to read Crichton,
Vonnegut and Joyce). I write when
I can. I'm always listening for
new bands and new sounds. And I'm rabid about cinema.
I also have some really great friends.
Did I forget
to mention I just married the
most beautiful girl in the world?
Professionally,
I feel comfortable in deadline situations. I've been doing this
for over ten years now and am familiar with both the expected and
the unexpected. I've managed as many as eight people working on
several projects simultaneously. And, I've had the experience of
redesigning a 20 year old magazine and launching a new one. The
best part, I feel comfortable maneuvering in any of the editorial,
art, production or publishing departments and do so frequently.
I've set budgets,
goals and benchmarks. I've given direction and taken it to completion.
I've hired, fired and laid-off (the last not an experience I'd recommend)
employees. Our team has accomplished quite a bit, but there's still
so much more potental in us. I think our best work is yet to come.
Oh, and I know
all the usual suspects: Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver.
I'm also a sometime (pretty good, too) photographer.
