Poem for Not Caringhow absurd,
that you
and i
drink together, somewhat
given,
and yet i feel as if this togetherness
that draws on
all my family ties,
that draws on all my heritage
(except for newly baptist relatives, who abstain)
still,
how absurd that i say we drink
together,
when in reality i am alone,
and you are not drinking,
but drunk.
