Description

In the closing days of the Low Hot Season, a large linder caravan arrives in Hegger. Fira is a young linder trader anxious to find friends and allies in Abbatine. She will meet the characters and befriend them.

Effect

The character with the highest-strength Argument involving friendship with Fira the linder trader gains a 5-point Ally. All other characters with Arguments involving friendship with Fira gain four lifestones.

Reason1

Linder trade regularly with Hegger.

Reason2

Status in linder society is determined first by birth, then by alliances, then by wealth.

Reason3

Fira wishes to bypass a long apprenticeship in the depths of the Pondith Confederation.

Description

Effect

Laerynthe returns to the city in possession of the Anklet of Pwir (1500 challock gain), but spends 1000 challock in expenses. Laerynthe also gains 2 points in an adventuring skill. Other rewards from the journey are given to his employer.

Description

Pawnbroker finds a shop that was never there before, and purchases several items of clothing, one of which is magical.

Effect

Pawnbroker now has a suit that is upper-class and will magically change to whatever is most appropriate (1 energy for each change) (1000 challock gain, less a 500 challock contribution from Pawnbroker). Thanks to the suit, Pawnbroker gains better access to high society and gains one point in Savoir-Faire.

Reason1

Pawnbroker is an important member of the city, and must dress the part.

Reason2

Fancy military dress impresses those you are interrogating.

Reason3

Many rich people know Spearchucker, and heed his words.

Description

Messerbad's mating fever overcomes him, and he scampers off into the forest to try and find a mate. Unfortunately, he is unable to find a mate.

Effect

Messerbad gains a Black Strike, and cannot reproduce until his next time comes, many years from now.

Reason1

None of the local adapoi like being around Messerbad because they know he uses fire magic.

Reason2

Messerbad has long been avoiding mating.

Reason3

Messerbad is a loner, and therefore is not trusted by gregarious adapoi females (STRONG).

Description

Mungo becomes a gambler, in particular by finding folk who are drunk and easy to swindle.

Effect

Mungo wins about 550 challock. However, one gambler becomes infuriated by the bad smell Mungo leaves upon his deck of cards. Mungo gains a Black Strike, and is no longer allowed in the local gambling halls.

Reason1

Mungo will be good at cards, if he plays against drunks.

Description

Boromir attempts to cook birds by shooting them with lightning bolts. Unfortunately, a friend of his eats one and falls ill. Boromir is forced to Sterilize him, which almost kills him. After this experience, Boromir learns some medical knowledge to avoid a similar incident.

Effect

Boromir gains a Black Strike for poisoning his friend, but also gains two points in the Diagnosis skill.

Boromir likes to experiment with new ways to cook things.

Reason2

Blasting birds appeals to Boromir's personality.

Reason3

Boromir wants to be able to apply a less heavy-handed approach to curing disease.
