Title	New Maker Incursions
Description	Demek hordes from Joy-of-Tools led by the general Advocate-for-Purity move against outlying Hegger outposts. Several Skirmisher Cohorts are moved from Hegger to the front lines, and new levies are raised. To pay for the necessary war effort, the Senate levies new taxes upon all residents.
Effect	All characters who do not specifically avoid the new taxes with an Argument must pay at least 50 challock in taxes. After the Resolution Phase, each taxpaying character must submit a concealed paper to the Referee indicating how much tax is to be paid. The character paying the lowest amount is accused of tax evasion, loses 200 challock and gains a Black Strike. Characters using Arguments are not at risk of this fate.
Reason1	The Makers and their demek armies are dangerously aggressive.
Reason2	The borders of Hegger must be defended.
Reason3	The Maker War has already drained Hegger's treasury.

Reason1	Yorden's contacts tell him that Senator Thirrus is involved with the Escritor of the Treasury
Reason2	Yorden promises the Senator that if he does his bidding, he will not bother him again.
Reason3	Yorden already knows about the Senator's past misdeeds (STRONG).

Reason1	Boromir and Pawnbroker are exceptional at sneaking around.
Reason2	Pawnbroker speaks the Maker tongue, and can interrogate prisoners (STRONG).
Reason3	Boromir has been practicing his warlike spells at the College of Sorcery.

Reason1	Pawnbroker speaks Maker & Boromir is learning.
Reason2	Pawnbroker and Boromir tortured the secret of Maker steel out of their prisoners.
Reason3	They have survived a trip to a Maker city, and obviously know about the Maker culture.

Reason1	Messerbad and Yordan go home through a dicey part of town.
Reason2	Pawnbroker didn't clear the criminals out of this neighborhood.
Reason3	Yordan has been missing his memory for a while.

Description	While Yordan is laid up and unable to perform his normal duties, Jelleth has him work as an instructor's aide. Yordan teaches an alchemy class, then helps to sell the products to the public for Jelleth.
Effect	Yordan gains several potions and 250 challock in commissions. He is also able to trade the beetle talisman for a more useful item: a poison curative. He also gains three points, spread between Teaching and Alchemy.
Reason1	Yordan is an alchemist sufficiently skilled to teach others.
Reason2	His personality reminds Jelleth of her dead son.
Reason3	Jelleth knows that Yordan is an extremely capable merchant.

Effect	Messerbad gains a tattoo that gives him a +2 bonus to his Shield spell skill when casting the spell on himself (2 point gain).
Reason1	Messerbad got a nice scar in the fight, so he has a hairless spot.
Reason2	Yordan has some contacts who do tattoos.
Reason3	There are several magical tattoo artists associated with the College of Sorcery.

Reason1	Mungo is a member of the IX Cohort.
Reason2	The Skirmisher Cohorts are funded by Hegger.

Reason2	Spearchucker is a mysterious and charismatic person.
