Adventure!
Welcome to the Paragon Club, a collection of daredevils and ne'er-do-wells brimming with world-spanning war stories. And a taste for dry martinis to match. It is here that we meet up with our fearless protagonists:
- Arthur Michael Vincent Pulfrey-Downs: An Englishman of impeccable breeding and incomprehensible thought processes. Pulfrey-Downs has traveled widely, aided by a wide variety of Faithful Servants, and has acquired quite the reputation as a world explorer of the finest caliber. His field reports from the exploration of the darkest depths of the exotic Hu River Valley of Indochina were the talk of London. Too bad about poor old Whitey Phelps, savaged by the flesh-eating fungus. And who could have ever imagined that trustworthy Elmer O'Rourke could have been skeletonized by those piranhas so quickly? And then there was loyal Chin-Ren Chang, vivisected by Mad Professor Kimmel. Poor bastard. Really, the only black note in Pulfrey-Downs' life is his deranged elder brother, Horatio Mycroft Pulfrey-Downs. An even greater explorer than his younger sibling, Horatio Mycroft fell to the temptations of crime and villainy in the Far East, and is reputed to be some kind of petty warlord. Though Pulfrey-Downs could certainly understand a few harmless eccentricities, he can never forget when Horatio Mycroft turned upon his own kin and had Pulfrey-Downs blacklisted from the Royal Geographic Society! Oh, the villainy!
- Kumar Singh: A surprisingly sophisticated Sikh, Kumar Singh is Arthur Michael Vincent Pulfrey-Downs' latest Faithful Servant. He accepted the job back when he thought Pulfrey-Downs was just another harmlessly-eccentric white man. Since then, he has realized that Pulfrey-Downs is rather the Typhoid Mary of jungle explorers. Though this might put off someone of weaker character, Singh is confident that his unique talents will keep him out of harm's way. He is quite able to out-fight a dozen men at a shot, and has a knack for always knowing the right people in even the strangest places. Singh has also found that his employer's total inability to keep track of his expansive fortunes provides quite a bit of room for an enterprising fellow to live a very pleasant life.
- Michael Sangaree: To call him a Texan and a pilot is about like calling the Grand Canyon a ditch and the Amazon a river. Larger than life in every respect, he is such a unique specimen that Pulfrey-Downs has contemplated having him stuffed and shipped to the Royal Museum. His hair is blonde, his skin is tanned, and his biceps are two feet around. He can fly his trusty airplane in between raindrops and across continents. And he can drink aviation fuel (and is frequently forced to, when he runs out of better fare). Out on the town with his mechanic Bubba and his wolfhound Fenris, he makes the ladies scream. And run.
The Session Summaries
The Adventure! game is brought to us by Chuck, who has kindly placed all sorts of background details on his website. We started out on 02/17/2002, and have great hopes that things will keep on for quite a long time:
