Berlin and Leipzig
John and I flew into Frankfurt, and that night slept on a train headed towards Berlin.
Days 2 and 3 were spent in Leipzig and Berlin.
Left: Leipzig was a pilgrimage to see Thomaskirche, where Bach was
music director for 27 years. Although he didn't play this organ, his choir
sings with it today.
Right: The mosaic on Victory Tower in Berlin's Tiergarten celebrates
the Prussian victory over France. In what was to become a theme of the trip, overcast
skies prevented us from breathtaking views of Berlin from the tower.
Left: Wandering down Unter den Linden in the old East Berlin, we
admired the ornate Berliner Dom. The diffused light reflected it nicely in
a neighboring post-Cold War glass structure. Right: After a meat-n-potatoes dinner
in Alexanderplatz, I tried my first night photography.
