More T1 Information
A T1 connection operates at 1.544 million bits per second and
allows data to travel in both directions simultaneously. If a full
T1 is
not needed, it can be "fractionalized" or divided into
lower speed connections. Each of these fractions is 64Kbits/sec
meaning that any increment of 64Kbits/sec can be selected. For faster speeds, T1 lines can be combined to create a T3 connection.
A full T3 is 45 megabits/sec.
Regardless of the data rate, a T1 or T3 requires a CSU/DSU and
a high-performance router at each end of the circuit. There are
other important considerations in choosing a T1 or T3 circuit. These
