We’re another one of those Austin, Texas success stories
that began in a student’s living quarters at the University
of Texas. The idea was to reliably connect people to the Internet
at a time when the term information superhighway was actually cool
(1994).
Ten years, thousands of Internet access customers, hundreds
of professionally designed websites and 9,000 square feet of co-location
space later, OnRamp Access is still the only technology company
in Austin and Central Texas to provide a single source for all of
these services.
Self-supported, stable and profitable throughout our history, we
have steadily grown in staff, resources, offerings and customer
base by following a conservative growth strategy. This includes
maintaining our original and private ownership, abiding by our make-a-dollar-spend-a-dollar
philosophy and limiting our major investments to those in our network
resources and assets. We have certainly skinned our knees a time
or two experimenting on new ideas, but have largely stayed the course
of excelling at our core competencies.
Guided by our co-founder and President, Chad
Kissinger, we also provide a strong voice in forging
the growth and vision of the ISP and telecommunications industries.
Including stints as both president and legislative chair for the
Texas ISP Association, Chad continues to be a highly recognized
expert in these areas, testifying regularly at both the state and
federal legislative levels.
With that said, we pride ourselves in offering the assurance to
our customers that “you’re always just a phone call
away from our president.” But be warned … if your question
involves the Telecommunications Act of 1996, predatory pricing or
questionable monopolization tactics of regional phone companies,
you could be in for an entertaining afternoon of colorful commentary.
