Facilities Manager | Austin, TX

 

Overview:

This position will be in charge of ensuring the uptime of all critical systems at OnRamp’s facilities including electrical, mechanical (HVAC), fire suppression, lightning protection, leak detection, telecommunications wiring, and physical security. The Facilities Manager must be proactive in ensuring that proper plans are in place, issues are identified and repaired quickly, and all customer service demands are met successfully.

This position reports to the Director of Data Center Operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring the uptime of all critical systems in OnRamp’s Austin data centers, including:
    • managing all aspects of HVAC systems such as functionality, maintenance, safety, and expansion
    • managing all aspects of electrical systems (ATS, UPS, Generators, transformers, wiring, etc.).
    • managing all aspects of all other critical systems including: fire suppression, leak detection, lightning protection, and physical security
  • Deeply understand and become the organizational owner of OnRamp’s building management systems, responding to alarms, monitoring the ongoing health of critical systems, and proactively suggesting ways to improve systems
  • Responsible for ensuring that Operations staff are trained in all critical systems fundamentals and procedures, with a special emphasis on HVAC and Electrical systems
  • Point of contact between vendors and OnRamp management on construction-related projects to the physical facilities
  • Responsible for supporting and managing facility-related implementations and data center space planning
  • Ensure physical security compliance with company policy
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or potentially unsafe or malfunctioning conditions
  • Manage the performance of all maintenance to ensure the highest level of efficiency

Requirements:

  • Three (3) years experience in a data center or other Critical Environment
  • At least five (5) years working experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to positively interact within the company and with vendors
  • Self-starter with strong sense of ownership, assertive follow-through, and a determination toward results
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and persistence to work until the issue is resolved
  • Working knowledge of Data Center operations, preferably in a facility larger than 20,000 sq. ft
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environments
  • Must have experience managing and maintaining vendor relationships
  • Ability to read blueprints/CAD drawings
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • 24-hour on-call as an escalation point for all Data Center operations and facilities issues

Tier III Technician | Austin, TX or Raleigh, NC

Must be able to work night shifts

 

Overview:

The primary function of the Tier III Data Center technician is to monitor and respond to service-related issues impacting customers through queue management, and to act as a resource for Tier I and Tier II technicians. With proven experience in Windows and Linux operating systems, network, server class equipment, and virtual environments, Tier III Data Center technicians are expected to work with minimal supervision while providing customer support. This position reports to the Director of Support.

***Position is on a rotated shift. 2 months day shifts then 1 month night shifts + on-call***

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the datacenter and network, and report problems to customers and engineer team
  • Respond and resolve in-depth technical escalations from Tier I and Tier II technicians for a wide variety of technologies, including accurate and timely documentation of customer communication
  • Partner with the engineer team on customer implementations and technical projects
  • Configure and manage customer and internal network maintenance and backups
  • Identify, schedule, and execute maintenance activities through change control processes
  • Track and immediately respond to alert events
  • Provide in-depth level review and resolution to network issues and change requests
  • Assist in development of technician process and procedures, including development and training of Tier I and Tier II technicians
  • Stay abreast of current technologies and make recommendations based on knowledge and research
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Technical Services

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with Data Center technologies, including technical support experience and in-depth knowledge in the following areas:
    • Software and hardware firewall implementations as well as configuring and troubleshooting varied VPN architectures
    • Cisco networking solutions
    • Technical experience with network management systems
    • Technical support for Microsoft Servers and Clients
    • Technical support for Microsoft applications including Exchange, SQL Server, and Active Directory
    • Technical support for VMware including clustered vSphere ESXi Hypervisor servers and vCenter Server environments
    • Linux experience (network stack, iptables, tcpdump/wireshark) a plus
    • HP, Cisco, and Dell server hardware configuration and maintenance through the use of iLo and iDRAC systems
  • Experience with EMC storage and backup/recovery devices is highly desired.
  • Fiber Channel and iSCSI architectures with the ability to diagnose / troubleshoot and resolve networking issues
  • Data center and site infrastructure knowledge and proficiency, preferred
  • Relevant industry certifications (VMware, Cisco, EMC, and/or Windows), highly desired
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to mine performance and capacity data from various sources and formulate valuable analysis
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands
  • Professional demeanor and excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

Tier I Technician | Austin, TX or Raleigh, NC

Overview:

OnRamp’s Tier I Datacenter Technician is responsible for assisting customers that require technical assistance with Microsoft or Linux servers, monitoring the operation of the data center, and controlling physical access to the data center. This position reports to the Manager of Technical Services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directly responsible for answering customer inquiries in person, on the phone and electronically
  • Monitor data center and network and report problems to customers and network engineering staff in a timely manner
  • Manage physical security of the data center authentication/authorization of guests and visitors
  • Other duties as assigned by the Network Engineers or management team
  • For customer satisfaction, the candidate will be expected to provide timely and accurate communication of issue status and resolution to the customer
  • Accurately and professionally document all communication with the customer
  • Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of technical support experience with:
    • TCP/IP Internetworking
    • Telecommunications troubleshooting
    • Technical support for Microsoft Servers and Clients
    • Technical support for Microsoft applications including Exchange, SQL Server, etc.
    • Technical support for Linux operating systems for servers
    • HP and Cisco hardware configuration and maintenance
  • Communication skills (face-to-face, phone, and email) with the ability to provide support to customers and work with Onramp engineers and staff
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and persistence to work until the issue is resolve
